Burns And Scalds
Treating burns and scalds
There’s lots you can do around your home to prevent burns and scalds such as using fireguards when kids are around and keeping appliances like irons and hair straighteners out of harm’s way. The sun’s rays, electricity and chemicals (in cleaning products for example) can also be dangerous.
If in doubt, get medical help.
Switch off electrical appliances and remove hot water first.
Cool the burn under cold running water for at least 10 minutes, then dry carefully. Althernately use Elastoplast SOS Burn Spray to quickly cool and relieve pain.
After, apply an Elastoplast SOS Burn Plaster. It cools instantly, protects and moisturises the burn to help it heal faster and reduces the risk of scarring.
Never put fat or butter onto burns. If anything is stuck to the skin such as clothing, don't remove it - go to your local A&E.
